304 stainless steel plate is a metal plate that is strong and ductile. The plate is used in most applications that require strength and some anticorrosive properties. There are different types of plates available in the market. The most commonly used types are the 304 plates. There are different grades in the 304 material as well.  The plates come in different thicknesses and in different sizes. These are measured in foot and inches. The thicknesses are like 3/16 inches, ¼ inches, etc. The sizes differ like 60×120 inches, 96×240 inches, etc. The different types include different material grade as well. The 304 stainless steel plate can come in the low carbon version of 304L which is very good for welding projects.

The low carbon produces less chromium carbide precipitation and therefore adds less intergranular corrosion. This is important in highly exposed condition because the corrosion from the welded joints will be less. The high carbon version on the other hand expresses high strength under high temperatures. Although the material differences make up for the mechanical property differences, both the types of plates could be used interchangeably depending on the application requirements. It is not always possible to have clear dimensions of surfaces. To connect plates with gaps, the stainless steel 304 strip could be used. The strips can fill in the gabs between plates with welding. The 304 material has excellent weldability and the welding lasts longer. The price of stainless steel sheet differs according to the type of the plate.
